The Victorian Language of Flowers A-Z Print. I love the sentiment of Floriography, and without thinking too much about it, we associate certain flowers with different emotions/occasions in modern society. The Victorians used specific floral arrangements to allow them to send the recipient a message expressing feelings which couldn’t always be spoken aloud in society. This print features an A-Z of flowers, each hand illustrated, with their names and meanings underneath. The flowers were each created by hand using pen and ink, then printed on high quality 310gsm archival museum grade soft textured fine art paper. The print is approximately 29.7cm x 42cm (A3) and fits into any A3 sized frame or can be mounted to put in a larger frame if desired. This will be shipped securely packed in a cello sleeve and cardboard backed envelope. Each print is signed and numbered by me the artist at the bottom of the image. While both flowers belong to the Narcissus group, Jonquils have some different features. Their leaves are more slender, their stems are shorter, and they tend to have clusters of flowers on the stems. They also have more fragrance.Jonquils symbolise a desire for affection to be returned, as well as sympathy. It’s probably not worth mentioning the sympathy bit if the recipient isn’t keen on getting older 😉The March birth flowers are so intrinsically linked to spring that’s it’s not hard to see why they represent this month, is it?
