China Glaze: Afterglow!

Manicure Thursday! China Glaze’s Afterglow ($7.50) is now my current favorite nail polish! I randomly picked up this up at ULTA on a whim, because it just had such an interesting peachy glow. It was nothing like any of the polishes I had. I’m glad I did because it is an amazing shear, pearly pink with a bluish gleam. The bluish gleam is much stronger in real life than in the picture. These pictures don’t do this polish justice. These are the polishes I used. Opi Natural Base Coat as the base coat, China Glaze Afterglow, and Essie 3-in-1 Glaze as a top coat. This is around 3-4 thick coats of the Afterglow. As you can see, the polish is still a little sheer and you can see my nail line. I tend to like a more opaque look but it did look pretty good with just 1 or 2 coats. Kind of like the inside of an oyster shell. The formula is nice and drying time was pretty fast considering how thick the layers of polish I applied were. I think what makes this polish unique is the blue sheen. It literally glows every where I go. The pictures don’t do it justice. Afterglow is subtle enough to wear casually but also a great polish to wear for a special occasion. I love it! The only problem I came across is that it’s so sheer I had to use so much polish. But! I definitely think this is a must get if you own nothing like it. Do you have this polish? Let me know what you think! Subscribe please!

China Glaze Don’t Let the Dead Bite Swatch & Review

Happy Halloween! I took this photo a while ago when my nails were nice and long, I recently broke one on my swatching hand down to the quick 🙁 and I’m OCD about the length so I had to chop them all off. My nails haven’t been so short in a long time! Anyway, this is a totally appropriate Halloween polish, China Glaze Don’t Let the Dead Bite from their Apocalypse of Color collection. I heard this polish is supposed to look like blood splatter on skin, yikes haha! Purchased by Me It has a pale fleshy pink crelly base with red glitters in multisized hexes and bars. Really excellent and so creepy! One of my absolute favorite Halloween polishes of all time. I used two coats of this. The photo above is with shiny top coat and the photo below is with matte top coat. What did you spend your Halloween doing? I had the day off because Nevada Day happens to fall on Oct. 31 so lucky me! I’ll have the entire China Glaze Apocalypse of Color collection to show you soon, I didn’t receive press samples of them until a few days ago. I bought this one a while ago at Sally Beauty Supply. See ya soon and don’t let the dead bite tonight! ❤ Kellie The product mentioned was purchased by me.

China Glaze Rebel Collection for Fall 2016: Swatches and Review

Press Sample It’s the weekend, so that means some gorgeous swatch spam. This edition will be show off the gorgeous new China Glaze Rebel collection, with some awesome names from the 90s. It will give you awesome flashbacks, and you’ll definitely want to wear these polishes. Head back later for a 90s inspired nail art look! China Glaze Rebel Collection for Fall 2016: Swatches and Review Fresh Prince-ss: 3 thin coats plus top coat. This is a sweet pink creme. It’s definitely a staple. I actually think it would be opaque in 2 coats, but the regularly 85% humidity is messing with my life. I like this shade of pink because it makes me tan. Fresh Prince-ss Fresh Prince-ss Don’t Mesh with Me: 1 coat over Fresh Prince-ss and 1 coat over Purple Fiction. I wanted to see how this polish looked over light and darker polishes. I feel like this can be opaque in 3-4 coats, but I love it layered over a darker color. It sort of looks dirty over Fresh Prince-ss but it’s amazing with Purple Fiction. It’s a shimmery purple polish with a pink shift. Don’t Mesh with Me over Fresh Prince-ss Don’t Mesh with Me over Fresh Prince-ss Don’t Mesh with Me over Purple Fiction Don’t Mesh with Me over Purple Fiction Pearl Jammin: 3 thin coats. This polish is one of the stars for the collection, for me. I love the pearl blue color with the strong gold shift. I also think this polish would be awesome for a wintry look, and transitions into spring. It’s unique for a mainstream as well—I feel like I need a creme version of this shade of blue! Pearl Jammin Pearl Jammin Pearl Jammin Holo at Ya Girl: 1 coat over Pearl Jammin and 1 coat over Blue-Ya. I also wanted to see how this polish looked over dark and light colors and I like it both ways. Like Don’t Mesh with Me, I feel like this can be built up in 3 coats. It’s a holo glitter in a strong gold shimmer base. Holo At Ya Girl over Pearl Jammin Holo At Ya Girl over Pearl Jammin Holo At Ya Girl over Blue-Ya Holo At Ya Girl over Blue-Ya Dope Taupe: 2 coats. I LOVE this griege color creme. It’s just enough between beige and grey that it’s super flattering and the forula was buttery. This is WITHOUT top coat. It’s self leveling and beautiful. Another favorite for me. Dope Taupe Dope Taupe Y’all Red-y For This: 1-2 coats. This is a super pigmented red shimmer polish. Because of that, I had a bit over cuticle staining upon removal, so remove with care. I was able to actually paint 4 nails in one dip of the polish–that’s how pigmented it is! I used two for the photos, but you only need one. A classic red with a gorgeous shift. Y’all Red-y For This Y’all Red-y For This Y’all Red-y For This Jagged Little Teal: 2 coats. Ah yes, I listen to Alanis Morrisette on the reg, so I’m down with this. It’s a teal creme that is definitely more green than this photo, but it’s a true teal creme for the fall. Formula was great and no staining on me! Jagged Little Teal Jagged Little Teal Purple Fiction: 2 coats. This is a vibrant purple with a pink shimmer. I think any purple lover will want this and I especially love it with Don’t Mesh with Me. Plus…the name! Purple Fiction Purple Fiction Purple Fiction Combat Blue-Ts: 2 coats. This is a rich cobalt blue matte polish and it’s really an awesome color. You simply have to work fast when putting down your coats. I also suggest a ridge-filling base coat, because as you see below, it shows it all off! Combat Blue-Ts Combat Blue-Ts Combat Blue-Ts, with top coat Teen Spirit: 2 coats. I feel like Kurt Cobain would like this nail polish. It’s a dark blue polish with vibrant blue shimmer. But, it’s amazing matte. Just look! All the blue shimmer glows when it is matte and bits of purple shimmer show through too. So much love there. Teen Spirit Teen Spirit Teen Spirit, matte Teen Spirit, matte Blue-Ya: 2 coats. This is similar in looks to Teen Spirit but it has a teal base with strong gold and green shimmer. After I saw how amazing Teen Spirit was matte, I did the same here. AMAZING. Matte-ing the polish just elevates the gorgeous shimmer against the dark base. Blue-Ya Blue-Ya Blue-Ya, matte Blue-Ya, matte Heroine Chic: 2 coats. This is a fun gunmetal brown metallic with gold and red flakes. It actually surprised me on the nail. It’s unique and beautiful, and really, is the epitome of 90s grunge. Heroine Chic Heroine Chic Heroine Chic, matte Heroine Chic, matte So which are your favorites? Mine are Pearl Jammin, Combat Blue-Ts, Heroine Chic, and Dope Taupe. But I love how the darker colors look matte. It’s a cohesive collection and definitely gets me in the mood for fall! The Rebel Collection is available now with select shades at Ulta and Sally’s. The complete collection will be at BeautyPlusSalon.com and retail for $7.50 each.
